Four Weeks to Simplify Christmas

We are now just over 4 weeks out from Christmas Day. For most people this means we are embarking on a very busy time of the year. With busyness can often come stress. However, it doesn't always need to be this way. One of the resonating quotes for me this Christmas season is:

We can all evaluate what that means to us. For me, a simple Christmas doesn't mean doing less, although personally, we are not doing family photos this year. For those who know me, it's been big medical year with my children so we have decided we will forgo the professional photos in an effort to take one thing off our plate while we are still navigating medical appointments and the medical needs of our children. A simple Christmas to me means being organised, prepared and avoiding stress and chaos.

I'm a big fan of Christmas decor and making my house look, feel and smell like Christmas. This year I have completed a number of home maintenance and renovation tasks which has helped our home to be hosting ready and it also gives me Christmas bang for my buck. Long after the Christmas lights are down and the tree has been put away, our renovations and improvements will still be.

This year I'm really excited because my children get to be with their Australian cousins. Sharing the Christmas season with family is really important to me. For me, to have time to spend with family however, I need to make sure certain things are done. As well as all the end of year work, church, social and school commitments, I need to make sure our home is ready for Christmas hosting and simply enjoying the day itself. I've created this simple preparation checklist to ensure we are on track for a relaxing and fun filled Christmas. Please use and share.

Another thing we do at Christmas time to simplify things is to write Santa letters. This gives me a really good indication of the direction to go when purchasing gifts and it also saves time and money as I'm not mindlessly wandering the shops or scrolling online. It's a simple pro forma which the kids use and which I've shared before but feel free to download and use for your own family.

I hope that you and your family can go into this Christmas season feeling the joy which comes from such a celebration. However, if this is not the case (yet) or if you are feeling overwhelmed this time of year and you would like support with your Christmas wish list, please feel free to reach out to us at Home Centred.
