Executive Functioning At Home

As defined by Harvard University, "Executive function and self-regulation skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully."

For most people, we are able to manage the complexities of life however sometimes stresses or unexpected hiccups can get in the way.

Developing executive functioning skills enable positive behaviour and allow us to make healthy choices for ourselves and our families.

One way to support and develop executive functioning skills is by the use of explicit and intentional systems. This is particularly useful for children. These systems can be supported by visual aids such as schedules. More to come about this in future posts.

Do you use visual aids at home? What are your effective systems which help your home life to have balance and peace?
